Now, much as the title says, I've seen a drop in my nitrates, and I have no idea why this is happening. I first noticed this when I tested last night, where the colour of the nitrate test didn't seem as dark as it normally does. I reasoned there was something up with the test and did it twice, but still felt it wasnt as dark as it had been. I kind of dismissed it, but after testing today, the colour seems to be about 20ppm, definitely orange and not red. Two days ago I was reading 80-160ppm.
There seems to be nothing else out of the ordinary. pH has remained the same, and the only thing I'm doing differently is I'm only adding 2ppm of ammonia each day while I'm in the nitrite phase (I started this dosage on day 13, currently on day 16). I was under the impression that nitrate could only ever go up, not down?
