My Next Fish!

ah was just reading up on them. there "known to be aggressive" guess il skip them. and get another group of tetras or danios

I know, it hurts to leave them off the list since they're such beautiful fish but they don't play well with others.

Wow, those are nice fish! How would they get along with Bolivian Rams and how different are their preferred water parameters? I also have Trilineatus Corys in that same tank...............

Yep, he's a beauty!! :D

Here's the other half...

Female Apistogramma Cacatuoides by David Raynham, on Flickr

Similar conditions i would have thought. 6.5-7.5. My pair are so laid back it's unreal. Never noticed any behaviour to make me worry about them. But i may just be luck, Ian's went beserk and attacked his other fish when a spawn was eaten.

how long are they minnnt? and will a pair be alrite? or will i have to get another female?

they look really nice i might have to have um :p

Since you're both on that side of the pond it shouldn't be too hard to do a transaction. :good:

I think Apistos are best kept in pairs if I'm not mistaken, but I'm sure minnnt will let you know if I'm wrong.

me and minnnt are only a couple of miles appart if i remember correctly :p

You just saved a fortune on shipping then.............If he lived in North Carolina I'd snatch those fish up quickly. Do it, do it! :hyper:

We even live in the same city.

They're fine as either a pair or as a hareem. The male shows no aggression towards the female at all really, so should be fine to keep them as they are, but if you wanted to add another female then I doubt you would have much trouble.

I assumed they were best in pairs because that's what I've read regarding my Bolivian Rams.

il take them as soon as i get rid of my livebearers. if you still have them by then :p its cool if someone else wants them in the mean time. cuz i dunno how long itll be till i get rid of these, waiting on a couple of friends to see if theyll have um

well i just got rid of my livebearers (4 platys and 3 mollies) i got my peppered corys up to ideal number 6. the guy i gave my livebearers to gave me 2 bristlenose plec babys in return :D

been so use to my tank having the big mollies in it looks rather empty now. but at least i can fill it with fish i actually want now! :shifty:

i cant find any MTS do assassin snails eat the shells? think my mollies or danios ate the shrimp aswell.

Staxx, I have 12 barbs (4 each of tigers, green & albino) in with beacon & lemon years & harlequin rasboras and never had a problem. I had 8 in with them in a 120 litre tank with no probs either. The barbs just tussle between themselves so far as I've ever seen & I've lost none of my other fish so from my experience I'd say they will be fine just so long as they are in a big enough shoal to help ease aggression. Plus, they are ace to watch & generally very active!! .
Where abouts are you & minnt?
Those apistos are fab ... I'd have them if you were nearby or willing to post?! . Think they would look fab in my 5ft tank, though suppose they will look ace in staxx tank too!! Lol.
Staxx, hope you get the fish you want. Have you any piccies of your tank?
Oh I wouldn't worry bout mollies, my lone mollie was bullying my new albino barbs over a bit of cucumber!!!! Lol

Tiger Baqrbs are def. less aggressive in a larger shoal but keeping them with Corys is a no no. Corys are too peace loving, like hippies & Tiger Barbs are more like drunken holigans.

yeah. me and mint are in nottingham. hes on the outskirts and im more city centre :p not too far apart though! im guna get his glowlight tetras and probs the pair of cockatoo cichlids he has going aswell :good:

then that will probs be it for now i reckon. until i rescape and change substrate anyways.

my corys are priority tbh. i plan on 6 more but different ones. maybe bronze corys

then il probs be stocked. or very close to
