My New Tropical Tank. **updated**

To clear up the confusion the tank has been maturing for weeks with just the water and sand using Biomature.

Once the filter was mature I added the slate and plants and a few fish.
The matureing comment I made in my original post ment to get rid of the shiny new penny look and make it look more natural.

Not sure as yet what other fish to add ill have tohave a look in other peoples tanks for ideas.

Biomature...dont know that one but most if not all of them do nothing to cycle a tank. The only one that actually has been seen to work is Biospyra. You should confirm its actually cycled, do water checks.

at the end of the day it doesn't matter what its called as long as the stuff has ammonia  in it, it will start the cycle. hell you could piss in the tank if you wanted

Totally false.

Putting products with ammonia into a tank with fish would kill them. Most of these store bought products supposedly have real beneficial bacteria actually in the bottle. From what I understand, none of them with the exception of Bio-Spira do.
Bio-Spira is good, but it needs to be frozen at all times, even including shipping, which can be tricky. You may end up with a bottle of dead bacteria.

no where on hungry tangs post does it say that he added ammonia while there was fish in the tank, that would just be stupid. you can actually cycle your tank with any type of ammonia, mine has being running for six yeas now and i used urine to start my cycle because i was short on cash an my tank cycled just fine. you can also go to any hard ware store and buy ammonia from there as well which does the trick, at the end of the day its just a simple nitrogen cycle.

is that a little bottle of green liquid? i bought something a couple of years ago when just starting out which was actually just ammonia for $£Loadsa Money£$. Think it was Biomature, but can't really remember the name.

If this is it, then there is some confusion on here. people seem to think he has added what claims to be bacteria (e.g. Cycle) but if the Biomature is what i think it is, its actually ammonia to start the fishless cycle. (which he said was started weeks ago, so not adding ammonia to a tank with fish in it)

Bio-Spira is called Bactinettes in the uk, which i'm assuming is where the OP is from as he uses Litres not US Gallons and as i understood it it was refrigerated not frozen? i may be wrong though. and also as i understand it, the bactinettes/bio-spira only has the ammonia using bacteria and you still need to cycle for the nitrite removing bacteria.
