Here's some pictures of my rays i got today. Pretty sure both are females and 1 of them is quite a bit larger than the other.

Unfortunately the tip of the smaller ones tail seems to be cut off just before the spine. although not infected.

I think they ate something but seeing as they hide everything it's hard to tell!!

there we go group shot added, bloody smilies

there both burried at the moment, very beady eyes!!

i wanna put one with my RD or oscar, theu are so cool how theu dig, then again my tanks are barebottom!

I think quite a few people keep them in barebottoms.

my sand looks like the moon now, there blowing holes everywhere

Oh yeah, kind of shadowed from the arival of the rays but i also got a L152 Pineapple plec today aswell who looks very cool. but disapeared a few minutes after release!! he had nice spikey plates.

I love them. Im glade you have sand bottomed tank i think it would be cruel to have a bare bottom tank for a fish that spends most of its time buried.

Wow i would love to have a ray tank..

What is the size of the tank you have?
How big do they grow?

there in my 850litre tank, 5x2.5x2.

i'm not exactly sure on what species they are yet so I couldn't comment, i'm waiting for CFC to post :D

very true but if you have dim lighting I don't think they would be too bothered but you would spoil the way they eat by blowing into the sand and munching any anything they kick up.

wow, very nice they have nice big eyes... i read some where that the more pink on the rays belly the more stressed it is, and for just getting yours theyre not very pink at all

Wow, L152 (L95) gets big (16 inches) and is a seriously armoured fish!

I'm jealous!

How yellow are the highlighs on yours? How big is it?

:D it's about 4inch at the moment and isn't showing much sign of colour yet, it's tail looks a bit tatty.

but it's plates are very cool looking and when i spot hom again there will be pics.....should of down 1 in the bag

I got him to replace my L024 who unfornately randomly died last week, so i was looking for a big plec to replace him, poor fella.

The rays look good and healthy, im pretty sure they are P.reticulatus though they could be P.hysterix, a good photo to use as a comparison against others on the net would be able to confirm species.

Woo CFC aproves of them :D the elmstead branch of my work also got 2 in and they managed to kill theres somehow :(

going to have find out what they ddi to them!!

what do you make of the tail CFC? any particular area to take the picture of?

Prehaps they looked at them the wrong way? It really doesnt take much or very long for a healthy ray to go to a curled up dead ray in the first two weeks of being moved, the next 14 days it is crucial to ensure that nothing is bothering them and that the water parameters are spot on, once death curl starts it cannot be reversed.

The tail may or may not grow back, if the stinger is still in place then it most likely will as the stingers are replaced 3 or 4 times a year, if it is above the stinger then i doubt it will regrow.

If possible try and get a birds eye view of the rays for a identification, like this
