My New Golden Nugget Plec

After buying my Golden Nugget Plec (L81) a week ago it has finally ventured out of it's hidy hole and let me take a pic. I think it's a beauty. What do you guys think?

Beautiful ! I know how it feels. I didn't see my L134 for well over a week after I got him. He has grown in confidence steadily and is now a regular out at feeding time.

I love those GN's with the yellow spots - truly stunning. He/she will need a name !

Hi Ham. It's weird how you get so excited when they finally come out. At the moment we have called him Percy the Pleco which may have to change should he be a she! lol

they are deffinately 1 of the more attractive plecs imo. mine was shy to the max. when i 1st introduced it into the tank i didnt even see it for about 3 or 4 months

He is approximately 4-4-1/2" and I paid £20 for him from Maidenhead Aquatics.

Yeah I thought so too. They had about 4 in the tank all similar sizes. I love him/her to bits. It has a bit of character too as it sits right on top of my bubble stream!

A 2" specimen by me is £30ish I found one the other day for £15! Still more than Im prepared to pay for a fish!

It's amazing how prices differ so much from place to place. I also think he/she is worth every penny as a centre piece fish tho.

Well I have only had him a week and from what I saw of him yesterday his belly seemed pretty full. He did have a munch on some courgette the other night but he has a nice hiding place inside my messerchmit plane ornament so I just push the food inside for him. I guess some of the other fish probably eat some of his food too.

good luck with him they;re great fish

you just have to watch the plecs belliew to make sure they are getting fed cos once they have a sunken belly they are hard to get back on food!!
