my LFS rehomed one of the same size, the owner had only had it about 18 months.

How fast would a 3" specimen typically grow? More specifically, how long could a baby this small be housed in a Rio 240 before a tank upgrade would be needed?

I could buy a 3" baby through "VickiandKev"s generously priced fish picked up from http/www.wholesale-tropical-fish.co.uk/price_list.htm (another visit is planned soon) for something like £4+ (VAT needs to be added, plus some appreciation profit for the generosity(sp?) of these guys buying fish so cheaply for us forum members.

i know they grow big lol, and from the research ive done it seems that they do grow very slowly compared to other fish, only ones that grow so fast are ones that are overfed or something, they grow slowly in the wild so if they are growing too fast its not healthy, ive been told to feed every 2-3 days and as long as my water conditions are correct it will be fine in my tank for a good while until i can get hold of a larger tank
