My New Filter

I have set up my new Tetratec EX1200 today Very exciting but I cannot decide on the positioning of the spray bar, I currently have it pointing down towards my substrate but I wonder how others position theirs? If it points up will it disturb the water too much? I don't really want to point it across because it may upset the angels when they eventually get bigger... So is it best as it is? Thanks

You actually want the filter to disturb the water surface, as this is how oxygen gets into the water.

Yep, mines down to 2 extensions of the spraybar and pointing slightly towards the surface about an inch below it.

Right pointing up now, it creates quite a cool effect as I did it at a slight angle rather then right up but the current does not go all the way to the other side of the glass...

But it was all your fault as per my previous thread!! Thanks for the recommendation going to let it cycle with the other filter still running for a couple of weeks and then I will remove the internal!!

Okay I am actually surprised at how quiet it is How long would you leave the two running together before it will be alright? A couple of weeks should do it? Mollys are disappointed I changed it around they quite enjoyed trying to battle through the current they are rather odd...

If you put the media from your current filter into the 1200 now then you can remove it straight away.

If not then just take out one of the sponges or some of the ceramic media.

installed mine yesterday and so far so good, using the 3 spray bars and all seems ok, poo being moved about. still might need to invest in a serperate powerhead to take all the poo away
