My new babies

They did looked kinda teed off don't they. Well they look much better today. I got a 1G tank for the marble today, and while looking for plants what do I see, but DT's, Halfmoons and CT's at the lfs. So I got some watersprite and a baby mustard gas(I think) DT. He is sooooooooo pretty. They had 1 HM, they wanted 32.99 for him.

I walked into the lfs, and what does the clerk say to me once she was free?

Well, what betta do you want today? She knows darn well I can't go in there without getting one. That is why I barely ever go there. The last 3 or 4 times I have gone I have gotten one.

So here are some more pics. I decided to put the girl in the middle compartment with the filter and heater. What I did was slide more craft canvas in front of the filter and heater. She has about 1 1/2G to herself. She loves the red DT. He has been blowing a huge bubblenest. So here are some more updated pics, including the new DT

I need names for them, I am hitting a brick wall when it comes to names.

I suggest naming a few with really bizarre inside jokes or crappy movie references (Like my rats Torgo, Benvolio, Malakai...) or really really common overly used names (Steve, Clay, Kali... Mike, John, Joe) That's what I do ^____^ A mix of the odd with the normal

Or you could use funny last names from people you went to school with Seems to be the current trait my fish share (Berry, Kaczy, Mr. O)

BEAUTIFUL Mustard Gas! I would have gotten him in a heatbeat, they are one of my favorites!

You have a rat named Malakai? My hubby to be uses Malakai as his online name. It is even in his email address! Maybe Malakai for the marble. Or the green plakat. Green is his favourite colour.

I don't know . Something will come to me. I wish it wasn't so hot here. I want to have them at my wedding. I won't risk it though.

I would name the marble just that: Brick. Hehehe, but I'm just odd like that!

I love Malakai, that's an awesome name! I also like Tim for the DT...I like simple names sometimes because it is almost opposite their personality. (I have a Jimmy--funny because he is so outgoing, neurotic, and fiesty!)

Good luck naming--that's my favorite part!!!

He is sooo tiny compared to the other fish. When the red girl flares at him, she seems to be twice his size or more. I will try to get a pic of the two of them side by side tonight if I have time.

The red DT and the red girl really like eachother. Like I said, I put her in the middle compartment of the tank, and added another divider between her and the filter and heater. This was mainly to block off the back of the tank, because I noticed a small gap between the divider and the wall of the tank. I kept going into my room and finding the girl back there, trying to get through the hole to see her new boyfriend(brother).

I figured out she was wiggling over the top of the middle divider, it was almost at the top of the water line. I put some craft canvas on the top of the tank, and raised the divider a bit to keep her in her compartment.

I go to go to bed last night and where do I find her? In with the red DT . They are happily swimming around together and here I am screaming for my fiance to come help me. I took off the lid of the tank and started to put my hand in to get her out(I didn't have time to find a net). Mr. Red DT goes over her so I can't get to her. I guess he didn't want me to take her out. I got her back on her side as fast as I could. She had already destroyed the bubblenest he had started to make. I figured out that there was a small gap between the top of the dividers and the "lid" I had devised out of craft canvas.

So I got MORE craft canvas and covered her up again. This time I made triple sure she couldn't get out. I lowered the water level about 3" and layered the canvas over her compartment.

I kept waking up in the middle of the night. I would look over and try to see the girl to make sure she stayed where she belonged. She did thank God. I must say she sure is feisty.

I am going away from Friday to Monday. I have a friend coming in Sunday to feed my fish. I may separate her into a smaller tank for that time, just incase she gets crafty and figures out how to get over to the males side.

When I come home, I am going to redo that tank. I am going to silicone the dividers in place as well as add more plants.

Ah the joys of keeping bettas. It is an experience like no other.
