Im so exited!! We went to the pet store just to get a cheap divider for my 12gal to separate it for my babies, and my mom comes up out of the blue and asks me if I would just like to get a new 29gal set up kit instead!!! The biggest tank I personally have ever had is a 12gal eclipse (my mom has a 75) and I am sooo exited! My birthday is in a week so it is an early present. Its not even up yet but Im still so happy. Although, when I came home I found one of molly's dead :-( which kinda put a damper on things so I wasn't in the mood to set it up then, because I only have two fish at the moment and she was one of them, so it would have been depressing to set it up knowing she wouldn't be able to go in it :( . But, Im still happy for it.

Only problem is we were going to set it up on my headbord with is about 13 inches wide by many feet long, and it doesnt fit!! The tank is about 15.5 inches wide. So we are going to go get a sturdy piece of wood to lay over the headboard and make it wider. Do you think that will work? I sure hope so because thats the only place we have for it to go lol.

Well, I just had to share my exitement lol. Pics to come as soon as it is actually up yet!

Hi. Congrats on the new tank. You will have lots of fun setting it up and i'm sure you will get much more enjoyment out of it than your 12 gal. About the headboard, i really really really would not recommend putting your new tank there. I know that's not what you wanted to hear but i think it's the safest. Here's why: first, when you move around in your bed, it will shake the tank. 2) You run the risk of knocking into it more if it is there possibly knocking it over, especially if it is overhanging a couple of inches. Thirdly, you can expect the full 29 gal tank to weigh at or almost 300 pounds. Imagine if something happened and it came toppling over. In my opinion it's just not worth it. You'd be better to get a sturdy stand for it. So good luck with whatever you decide to do and i hope you have fun.

Ok. Well I took your advice and convinced my mom to get me a stand for my tank! yay! We had to do some major rearranging in the Living room but we managed to find a little corner for it to go. I apologize for the bluriness of the picture, not only does my camera stink but the tank is newly set up and still a little clowdy. The left side is for the parents and the right side is sectioned off with its own sponge filter for the babies.

Any suggestions are welcome!

what fish are the parents? :)

Thanks! I have two female mollies and a female swordtail. I only have one male molly at the moment and once the tank settles down I will be getting some more to even out the ratio.

I love it. im glad you settled to have it somewhere but your bedroom.. looks lovely. good luck with the babies and im sorry about your molly and her unborn...

Hi. Glad to hear that you bought a proper stand for your new tank. I think it will be much safer, and now you've got some storage room underneath too! It's looking pretty nice too!

Thanks everyone for the great replies! I love the community here, you guys are great.

Im so happy I got the stand as well, I was unsure about keeping it in my room too. Only thing is now I can forgot about any presents/party for my next twenty birthdays
