My Little Cute Babies.

So i was looking in my fry tank the other day and guess what i found...... 1 tailless guppy! I took him/her out and put it in a tub without a lid and with lowered water level then went to make sure there weren't any others, but i found 2 more so i have a total of 3 tailless guppies. They seem to be fine and can eat and swim so i am going to give them a chance but if they don't make it then that's nature. I did separate them from my other fry so that if they don't make it i will know. I don't plan to breed them so i won't be passing any of their genes on. They are from the latest batch of guppies these were from midnight a couple of weeks ago. I know alot of people will probably say i should cull them but if they are able to eat and swim and i don't plan to breed them then why is it a problem? So that they don't breed they will go in their own tank. They all look to be females but if there is a male then he will have a tank to himself or vise versa. (meaning if there is 1 male and 2 females he will go in a tank on his own and they will go in a separate tank and if the tables are turned the same will happen)

congratulations on the baby guppies.

I'm currently waiting on mine to release fry in my fry tank..its kinda exciting for some odd reason.
maybe its because its the first time I'll have fry?

you should take a couple photographs of the baby tailess to show us..I'd really like to know what they look like

Well all 3 are still going strong and fighting well. I was expecting to be bombarded with posts about how i should cull them and stuff and i haven't, thanks for being understanding about why i am giving them a fighting chance.

If you have separated those fish from the rest and don't put them back, you have already culled them. They will not have their genes carried on.

I once had a platy fry that didn't grow and developed a bent spine. He lived on but I cleared out that tank and gave him away. Last I heard he is well still this is a year ago.

Well they are going in their own small 5 gal tank (well 5.5 gal) with a small heater and filter but if 1 is a male(or vise versa) then they will be separated so they can't breed.

Keep a close eye on them Misscosmo. As they mature, you may find that they have some characteristic that you think worthwhile continuing. All genetic anomalies have the potential of providing both good and bad traits. Let's face it, that is how people evolved from bacteria over many millions of years.

Went out earlier and came back to find 1 baby dead. Took it out and put the remaining 2 in a different tub while i cleaned their tub out completely.

The remaining 2 are doing great still eating and swimming like the normal tailed guppies.

Could it be that their tails have simply been nipped at by the other fish? I leave my fry in the main tank with the adults and occasionally I see a few that have had their tails nearly nipped off (they grow back quickly).
