Ah with you now the plants lol .... Yeh got to plant them properly just waiting for more gravel to arrive as its not deep enough to take the plants out the pots yet

Added bogwood after a water change
Plans are to remove the boat and re-scape in 2 weeks when I get more plants so I can get some growing on the wood

Looking good matey. Nice to have another member close by. :)

Have you considered sand? Mikrogeophagus (your Rams) are earth eaters by nature which means they like to move the substrate about with their mouths to create pits etc. They also sift the sand in their mouths for any uneaten food. Something they cannot do with gravel.

Cheers.

Where abouts are you?

Hadn't considered sand stuck with the gravel as it was all I could get fast enough when I got this tank . May well change in the future . Would love a 5foot tank but my wife isn't keen on the idea lol

Kirkby in Ashfield but work for Broxtowe Borough Council so not a million miles away. :)

Black sand would go well in your setup. The Rams would really 'pop'

I work in annesley so not far from there either
At the minute everything depends on spare cash for the tank so I'm trying to put bits to one side when I can . Because I want to change it round totally and get rid of the cheap looking plastic stuff that was with it when I got it but for now it looks "busy" and not bare lol
A week Friday I can get some more plants from trowel garden centre (maidenhead aquatics) as they have offers on at the minute

Go to Wharf on your way home mate... far better for plants than MA.

Also, visit local parks and collect dead bits of wood. Bramcote Hills Park has plenty of amazing stuff. You could also pick up a few rocks too. ;)

Yeah been to wharf ... Good place.

Didn't know if it was wise to get wood and rocks from just anywhere

My plec loves the wood and seems to have a new hiding place under the bit in front of the boat lol can watch em for hours without getting bored
