My Heater Cracked!

1 minute ago my Fluval M150 heater cracked.
I was doing a large water change and stupidly I left the heater on while it was out of the water , when I put it in the water it cracked, my fish are safe and ive unplugged the heater but its in the water , if I take it out of the water will a fire start

No, althought wear gloves if your that worried, just for safty i guess! you should remove it ASAP mind and replace it

Unplug it, i mean wherever it gets its power make sure that's out

Then simply carefully remove avoiding A: getting hand shredded by glass B: if any glass ends up on the substrate remove carefully

I can recommend the Rena Smart-Heaters, look black and honestly you'd have to sledge hammer the critters to fubar them lol

Ohh, and obviously you'll never forget to turn heater off (if you go with glass again)

If its cracked, put a small cloth, say a tea towel in the water (submerge) then wrap it round the heater before you take it out, that way no glass will break off into the tank.
