My Fishless Cycle Log, *updated Daily*

Yeah after 24 hrs.
There nowt in my tank from what i can see, unless something is in my filter?

Iv not used carbon media to remove the med as i have no fish in, do you think i should?

im goin to test 2moz morn for ammonia coz 2ppm normaly clears easy in 12hrs

The carbon is used to remove that blue-green color from the water. Chemical dye treatments are easier than others because you can see the color in the tank water.

Did a 12hr test this morning for ammonia due to last nights funny readings.
Added 2ppm of ammonia and this morning it was 0 bright yellow.
not sure whether it was my fault with the test or something had died and now its past

Day 13 *Updated*

Nitrites are comming down as it took quite a bit of time to change colour in the bottom, so hopefully should se a drop 2moz :shout:

Nitrates have jumped up too so thats a good sign :good:

I moved the sand around today, its starting to look a bit brownie on top?

Cheers coldcazzie, :good:

Im doing my cycle in the dark, well iv got a towel wrapped round it no lights etc,

i thought it might of been the sand getting dis-coloured

ooh good news about the nitrite!!!!
dyu think some of your colonies survived on your media or tank, hence the quick cycling process this time round?

does adding bicarb mess up ur nitrate tests? am using the API kit and tested about 10mins after adding the bicarb, and got a very low 5ppm, whereas yesterday i go around 10ppm, which was rubbish anyway. It's like my tank is anti-N-bacs now, driving me crazy!!!

Dont think it does, my nitrates have always been low but as soon as they jump up like they have i no my nitrites are comming down,

its cycling about the same as last time so dont no if some bacteria was there but i doubt it

Day 15 *Updated*

:hyper:
Nitrite First 0 :good:
Iv now added 5ppm of ammonia, im going to do a quick ammonia and nitrite test 2moz at 8AM if the levels are low enough i will switch to 12HR testing, if not i will still test every 24HRS till it lowers
