My Fish Is Going To Explode!

So I have a pregnant platy (OMG no way!!) and I feel like she has been pregnant with this batch forever. I took some pictures of her today, as she is going to pop any day now. But this poor fat thing. She doesnt look happy about it.

The Velvet Wag Sword in two of the pictures is daddy.

I am sure some of you noticed that string from the filter to the plants......how in the HECK did my hair get in the tank

I had a hair in one of my tanks too, how do they get in there?

She is starting to square off so I reckon it will be anyday now. I have my flat slate layed out in the bottom of the tank for the fry to crawl under. For a while I was worried about disease. She almost looked like she had dropsy, but nope, she is just getting fat and preggo lol. She is starting to isolate herself, and I notice she is looking boxy so I am thinking in the next couple of days I may see some fry.

She doesn't look that squared off to me. (Have you checked out the thread in the livebearers section that gives a pictorial chronology of the drop process? Definitely worth the time to look through, and I don't even have any livebearer females! )

Its not her first drop I have been raising them for the better part of a year

She is starting to square off on the bottom, but she is not quite there. I do not see her lasting another week though without dropping.

My fry tend to hide in the cabomba even though I have lots of small slate hiding places.
Sometimes I think I got them all & a week or so later I spot more.
I try to be hard hearted & leave nature to take it's course, but I feel sorry for them.
Luckily my Lfs will take them when they're old enough

I like to raise my fry and keep some of the more interestingly colored ones, but I only have so much space so I let nature take its course. I usually end up with about 2-3 per drop.

Fish keeping is addictive! I started with one tank, now I have 3!

I have 6 Sundays are a busy day! Oh and I caught the rogue hair in my tank MTS hit me hard lol

I agree, probably another couple days... she's flattening nicely, but the back end is still sloping.

Whatever happened with that Biozyme tank?

I have a female guppy that is about to pop. She is looking quite square and is hiding from everything, though she is the only one in the breeding tank right now. She is definitely ready any day now.

I havent had the money to replace the filter, so I have a vial of Biozyme that is daunting me, ready to be tested.

Yeah I just gave away 15 platy/sword hybrids. They went to a 55g tank They should be really happy.
