hi, help please.
I had a 126l tank brought me 2 wks ago, and stocked it with 5 guppy.
now this last weekend i have added
5 guppy
4 rainbow fish
2 large 3 spotted gourami
2 clown loaches

in less that 24hrs we have carnage, i have lost the 5 new guppys' and at least ome of the orignal 5 has had its tale fin nipped. there are finless bodies lay in the bottom of the tank.

i think that it is the rainbow fish yet i was told that they would make good tank-mates

what do i do, how do i resolve this

It will probably be your gouramies, they are boisterous fish especially when 2 males are together. My advice?

Get rid of the gouramies if you are planning on buying more small fish.

yep, agree with J4MES, I was stupid enough to follow the advice of an old book and put my guppies with gouramis, they chased the guppies so much, the little things were scared to death! I returned them to the shop and all is peaceful in my tank. You should definately get rid of the gouramsi

What are the stats in your tanks? You say you only got it 2 weeks ago? Then there's no way its cycled... my opinion when you added so many more fish you had a massive ammonia spike, which would have killed off a bunch of them. When fish die the others in the tank will peck at it, which would account for the missing fins. Though I agree that keeping gouramis together with guppies may not be the best of ideas.

Yeah ur gouramie if u say they are big. They usually eat small fish.

Correct or incorrect, you have had the tank for 2 weeks, and in that time span you have proceeded to add 18 fish?

Yeah ur gouramie if u say they are big. They usually eat small fish.

thank you...

i questioned this today with my supplier and again they told me that they should all be fine together, however if may be due to sick fish or bullying and to sit at watch.

on watching i discover that the rainbow fish make a beline for the guppies and at feeding time appear to want to munch them. however the gouramis just seem peacful following eachother arround relentlessly. i am somewhat put out because in everything that i have read about these two breeds i have not read a bad thing, yet i cant have a tank without guppies.

but thank you very much

thank you, how do i get rid of healthy unwanted fish?

sorry to be a pain in the ass but someone is going to say it so i thought i might aswell

your clown loach will eventually outgrow ur tank tank and unless you have a mahaoosive tank to put them in when they are bigger it would proberly be best to take them back to your lfs and get 4 yoyo loach as all loaches need big companey :)

like i say sorry to be a pain but someone will say it :)
