Over the last few years ive had to give up my old intrests/hobbies due to ill health
So i needed some thing to take my time up so tropical fish its is.
The Tank is currently doing a fishless cycle (breeding the bacteria in the filter that eats the waste produced by the fish) rather than the older traditional way of using hardy fish and exposing them to high levels of toxic ammonia and nitrite. so no fish at the mo but will update the pics when there in.
Anyway i am half way through the cycle now only a few weeks to go hopefully my plants are growing rapidly and i have my first guest and rams horn snail that must of been an egg on one of the plants i got from the lfs

The techy bit now
The tank is a juwel rio 180 around the 150 litre mark (41 ish gallons) using the standard internal filter and heater with the optional venturi/airation jet, multilux lighting with the optional reflectors (may change the tubes/bulbs to different ones at a later date)
6 mixed plants the names i cant remember at the mo. 2 pieces of mopani wood a few nic nacks around 30 kg of dorset gravel in 3 and 6mm (1/8 and 1/4 in old money) and last but not least 4 kg of tetra plant substrate underneath the gravel
I havent quite made my mind up on the fish yet probably going to be ....... guppies, tetra's (neon's and purple emperor's), king tiger or brisslenose pleco maybe a few others over time.
sorry for the bad pic got a new camera and need to read the manual
