my first planted tank

Oh I almost forgot, great looking tank! I'll nominate it for sTOTM! Good job on the plants! :kewlpics:

I don't think that anyone was being judgemental here - they're showing concern. Keeping goldfish in heated water will speed up their metabolism and drastically shorten their lives. This is not a critical situation but by posting pics a person has to be able to accept criticism as well as praise. From the very first post Kent asked for advice and should be able to accept it when given. If you don't want it, don't ask for it.

I don't know where ur coming from coz I didnt get everything you have just written.

Wow Kent thats a really nice tank... the plants look amazing and i think the goldfish are pretty, they are huge!

I'll second the sTOTM :D :D

thanks ashley...

As everyone has already said nice tank

I share the concern of the others about the goldfish :/ 3 goldfish really should be kept in a 30g - 40g (using the generally accepted formula of 20g for first fish and 10g for each additional fish) with their own species.
Also your clown loaches will grow to about 12" and will cause you problems in the future. IMO you are fully stocked right now and when all your fish mature you will encounter some serious stocking problems.

I would look to re-home the goldfish either in their own tank or pond as soon as possible. Because of the tropical temperatures (which will not harm most goldfish contrary to popular belief) their metabolism will be faster than normal (as already mentioned) and this will cause an increased growth rate. If they are kept where they are they will grow externally for a while but then stop as they run out of room. Meanwhile their internal organs will continue growing causing internal problems and premature death. It would be in their best intrest and the intrest of your tank as a whole if you could re-home them.

Your clown loaches may also suffer from stunted growth if they are having to compete for space so a possible trade for something smaller might be an idea in the future

Or save up and get a huge tank for all of them :D

I hope i haven't caused any offence, this is just my opinion and advice :)

Thanks for the suggestion and or advice, Aquascaper... Don't worry, it's not offensive. I understand what you guys are saying and I'll most likely get another tank sooner or later. As for the goldfish... they will stay there for now...I'll keep you guys updated.

I would suggest you get a pond or another tank for those goldfish.  They are far too messy for a tropical tank and require colder water as people have said.

Ben
I don't know what kind of filter you're using that can't handle "messy" fish, but if the man wants to keep goldfish and has the filtration for it, I don't see the big problem. What's worse, using them for their purpose (being eaten) or sparing their lives and feeding them in a "not-so-perfect environment" :/ I think you can save your judgement for other more critical situations :sly:
and at least they are not in a tiny little goldfish bowl :)

Your clown loaches are soooo cute

It's easy to see why people get into trouble with them, they're so little to start with. All your fish look healthy so you've got time to plan for that 100g monster tank :D

When you don't want the goldfish anymore, give them to me, my black piranha will have a feast!

100gallon? lol.. I dont think il ever think of getting a 100 gallon tank.. anyway, i got a used small tank today so the goldfish will probably be transferred there once it is set up.

Thanks for the nice comments.
