My First Fishy Adventure!

Very true, I've really enjoyed the past few weeks and the learning curve it brought. It's a real sense of achievement and delight when results are getting better and better.

One thing I know is that once established I will happily donate media and plants to those beginning their journey like I have before them :)

Ammonia takes 12hrs to reach 0.
Nitrite takes 16-18hrs to reach 0.

Oh and here is a video of my tank :)

Cycle is complete!! :shout:

Added some Assassin snails today to help with the small snails I have and also cuz I like how they look.

Question is, which fish first?

Tetras
Corys
Plec
Apistogrammas

Any help much apperciated!!!

Put all the fish in at the same time. That is one of the benefits of the fishless cycle.

Chose not to do this as I felt it wouldn't be the best way of introducing fish and reducing stress.

I've brought 15 pristella tetras and they're doing great :) will add more fish after they've had a week to settle.

Here's my Tetras in their new home :)

Looking good. I'm considering pristellas. Any comments on them?

I love them! They have great colour to them and shimmer in the light. Mine are feeding really well and shoal nicely together.

Just brought 6 Leopard Corys today, video to follow :)

I think those cories might be three-lines (False Juliis)! :hyper: The lines (as opposed to independent dots) and also the dark horizontal bars along the flank suggest yours are three-lines. I thought mine were leopards at first too, but it turns out most cories sold as leopards are actually three-lines.

I'm not sure, but I think they are! Compare pics online and see what you think.

Sam :good:

Those Cory look lovely...out of interest, what do you intend feeding them? I can highly recommend the JBL Tabs, widely available, break in half and bury under the sand for them!

Terry.

Atm they're on sicking pellets but will have a look at those tabs.
I guessed they were three lines when I brought them! Didn't buy them cuz of which type they were just cuz I loved them :)

Wow, great tank!! This is what i'd want my future 55 gallon or so to look like. Very inspiring! And those corys are just awesome! Congrats on doing everything the right way, you are now enjoying the full benefits of your work and patience! Keep it up! :good:
