tank looks great by the way! are the plants real?

thanks! yeah the plants are real. low tec no ferts, just growth, i think ive been lucky there. Im glad to hear i have a female! she was really shy yesterday, but ive been seeing her out and about more today following the other Ram around. I have my water at 26. and I have 6 harlequins in there right now, a otto, and a clown plec. Ill need to figure out if they can all move up to 28. hopefully she pulls thru and i can get her healthy! thanks for the help and kind words guys.

All those fish can go up to 28°C.

awesome. ill take care of that then. feeding her plenty might be more of a challenge tho, since the harlequins and the other ram are all quite greedy. ill have to figure something out.

Give Rams a good variety, include plenty of meaty foods, I remember feeding mine boiled chicken at one point, they loved it.

is there some good picture references to tell the difference between german blues, and bolivians? cuz i have a feeling maybe the other one is bolivian, since hes not nearly as colorful. yay mislabeled LFS..

also, it wouldnt be a problem if i had one of each would it?

Just type in the scientific name for the bolivian ram, microgeophagus altispinosa, that should give you the correct pictures

sadly, i had to go away from my tank for 6 days. Came home to find her dead. all the other fish are fine, doesnt look like i had any spikes from the dead fish lying in the tank. little bummed out, but i guess it wasnt meant to be. im debating trying to get another female blue ram, as my water isnt soft, and i originally wanted Bolivian Rams. the male is doing fine but i wonder how long he will last in my hard water.

If you can return it maybe you should. Blue Ram are more fragile anyway. They are also more expensive than Bolivian Ram. Nevermind.

she was doomed from the start due to your lack of research, and probably the male won't make it past 6 months. these fish require specific conditions

deffinitly go with bolivian rams in the future, they tolerate a wider range of conditions and colour up amazingly once settled

Its really nice that you have 90 litters tank with full of plants. Actually I am a plant lover specially in pond or tank so I like so much that you have such a good tank. I am really planning to have one in near by future then I will also post pictures. Thanks for posting.
