My First Aquarium

I am new in this area, and any advice will be greatly appreciated. I have been reading plenty of books
for the last couple of month and it seems that I have lotw of information but no practice, and I am still afraid to start
but I really want to.
My problem is that I did research on fish and the only one I chose belongs to the angels family and tangs. Mostly these
are the only one I like. I understand that angels are really hard to keep, so I can go ahead with the tangs but I read that
it better keep only one tang in aquarium.

Is there really now way to have 3-5 different tangs? Probably I can buy some clownfish too.
Different resources giving me different information.

Please need some help on this.

Also I am thinking to go with the 50-70 gal aquarium and use live rocks as biofilter. Is that a right decision?
or I should have a gravel filter?

If you have a salt water tank, you will need to post in the SW section to get answers. I so know that SW takes more patience to get started, is quite a bit more expensive (both he equipment and the fish) but has many more colorful fish. The key though is to be patient and not rush things. Definitely a fishless cycle.

ok, then, I believe tangs are marine fish? And don't they need a huge tank? Not sure, I stick to small tropicals...
Also, there are lots of different types o tangs so you should research about the specific kinds first.
I'd say angelfish are easier to keep than tangs.
Surely you like fish OTHER than angels and tangs?

No I dont have an aquarium yet, I still have to purchase all the equipment, but my desire is to have the fish I want otherwise
I will not really enjoy it.
I understand that I have to be patient and I am willing to work, wait, spend until my aquarium is ready.

I just dont know if I can have many tangs in the same aquarium + in the feautre if I decide to add some angel fish, will
they be ok together?

Yes I did lots of research unfortunately my eye is only angels and tangs could be some other but I want those defenetely.

Are u sure that angels are easier to keep compare to the tangs? I read that they are the most difficult to keep.

You'll get more detailed answers to your questions in the marine section of the forums as most people browsing through here tend to focus more on freshwater tropicals, myself included.

I know a bit about the basics of marine tanks as I've been doing some research to set one up but I haven't actually kept a reef setup just yet. From all I've heard about tangs they can be quite agressive and are on the risky stocking options list in the marine forum. Clownfish from all I've read are very forgiving as saltwater fish go, though you'll likely have problems if you mix different species. No matter what fish you plan to keep, you'll have to do a great deal of research if you plan on keeping a variety of fish as there are many fish that won't get along well at all.

For filtration purposes, live rock is a great choice in salt water while undergravel filtration isn't even used much in freshwater aquaria anymore. A great many saltwater tanks use a sump for filtration in addition to the live rock and you'll also want a protein skimmer for your tank. The biggest tank you can afford and fit in your home is your best option, smaller tanks will have more room for error. The 50-70 gallon sounds pretty reasonable for a first saltwater setup.

Hopefully that helps a bit, I'm sure you can find others in the marine section with much more experience.

Edit: Note to the freshwater tropical keepers; saltwater angelfish are completely different from the freshwater angels and much more challenging compared to other saltwater fish.

angelfish are freshwater (or tropical) while tangs are marine (or saltwater). So no, you can't keep them together. And I think that angelfish shouldn't be the hardest to keep. Surley other fish are harder to keep (such as marine fish in my opinion)
Do a bi more research on them first, then figure out which one you want.

Actually, there are both FW and SW angels. The Flame Angel (I think that's the name) is one of the prettiest SW fish I've seen (also expensive as the LFS store near me sold them for $65 each). As for ease of keeping, angels (speaking of FW now) aren't terribly hard to keep but they do need a fully cycled tank with stable water conditions. They prefer slightly acidic (lower pH) water.

My choice is a salwater aquarium and as I undertsand I can have saltwater angels and marine angels. I think marine
angels are bigger and harder to keep. Is that right?

and would it be a right decision to go with salwater angels only in my aquarium? will they live together okay?

If you want more info on saltwater angels, I'd ask in the Tropical Saltwater section. From what I've seen of them, they're much easier to keep together with other angels and fish than tangs are, but you'll also want to make sure that you get the dwarf species as many will get much too large for a tank under 100 gallons.

Edit: Forgot to mention, saltwater and marine can be used interchangeably for the most part. Saltwater and marine angels are the same fish, but there are many different subspecies of angelfish.
