My Favorite Lfs Was Giving Away Filters...

My lfs was giving away new aqueon filters when you brought an old filter in for them. I took in an old Penguin 330 filter that I never used (got for free) and walked out with a $41.75 Aqueon. I never used an aqueon but what a deal. I have no idea what the angle was for the give away. They gave away 200 filters like this. I did buy 5 chain loaches at $9.99 each, and a ten gallon tank for my fry, and a heater, and sand, and a light. Had to buy something. I felt guilty.

Is Aqueon going out of business?
Anybody else ran into a promotion like this?

I know Aqueon recently took over All-Glass, this is probably just another promotion.

wolfwolf, I think you answered your own question. You spent close to $100 and all they were out was the wholesale cost of the filter. It probably cost them less than half the price on the package. You will probably feel good about them for months or even years and keep coming back. They are making out big time from this promotion.
