The tank has been running since April... finally got my Discus this week. Posted some Discus pictures the other day, but wanted to use this thread to show the whole tank setup. I originally had a nice branchy piece of driftwood in the middle, but it reaked havoc on my pH. I kind of like it wide open in front now.

Enjoy. . .

NOTE: I was too lazy to turn off the bubble wall in the back.

 Very nice! I like your choice of plants! It brings a lot of color into the tank and makes a great contrast with the black gravel! The discus are so cute!

i think the tank looks good with the red plants like that../

something in the middle would be good tho..

nice discus !!

I think most plants look better bunched. The exception being some large leafed species like echinoderus, but most bunched plants look better together. The tank may look more interesting with better established fore-ground, mid-ground, and back-ground. Right now, there's just the back-ground.

jaywings said that there was a big piece of wood in the middle front but it was messing with the ph.. they are probably finding something else to put in the front..

That is a Lovely Tank. :flex:

i like it just the way it is
awsome tank

Nice, although I do think it needs a nice large bit of bogwood in the middle to finish it off....

Did you soak the bogwood through properly before putting it in the tank?

Yes, the driftwood was soaked for almost a month in a bucket before putting it in the tank. I changed the bucket water every other day as well. I didn't think that a small piece of driftwood could plummet my pH in a 72G tank. I thought it might drop my pH 0.2 points... but my pH went from 6.8 --> 5.8

I took out the driftwood... did several 25% water changes over the course of a week... and now my pH is back at 6.8 and holding steady

I personally like the bunched up plants in the background. I tried to scatter the amazon sword plants around the middle/front of the tank. This layout also makes my cleanup a LOT easier, since I try to feed them in the middle open space. ;)

I think the Discus and Tetras appreciate the open space in front... and the layout also discourages them from hiding in the plants all of the time.
