:grr:

I bought this tank from ebay about 1½ months ago with 2 x common plec and 2 x white baloon mollies.

Week 1
Everything is fine, Fish love their new home and owners. Tank is really clear, pump working excellently temp excellent etc.

Week 2
Bought a red-tailed black shark baby from Pets at home (I know) and a Red Male Betta + male and female black mollies from my LFS
Everything OK, All the fish get on the have their own areas and nice and peaceful

Week 3
Bought 3 plants from my LFS and put them in the tank, noticed the black shark was a little paler more like grey. Later same day black shark is swimming funny. 2 hours later he's dead!!!

Week 4
Male Black Mollie has white down his side and back and the female has a little white also + the Betta looks a little pale. Put in Methylene Blue to cure
Midway through the week no better, realised that I hadn't removed carbon pad so did water change 40% took out carbon pad and put next dose of Methylene Blue. Saw a small snail in tank

Week 5
Female Black Mollie is cured, but Male is now pine coning on the sides. Betta is getting back to his usual colour. One of the plecs has a large patch of white at the back of his ftop fin and a small patch in the fin.
Took out the male black mollie and 'dabbed' Blue on him with cotton bud.
Female black mollie doesn't seem to like the male anymore and has started hanging around with the male Betta instead.
Took 5 snails out of the tank

Week 6
Male Betta is cured but now tits too late for his 'marriage'. Divorce has happened and now the male betta and female mollie both chase him all over.
Male baloon molly starting to look a little grey.
Plec that had small white patches now has huge white patch on back and a hole developing in his top fin.
Took 10 snails and 3 jelly blobs of eggs out.
Am now treating for Velvet.

I will keep you posted on my tank saga.

Still in week 7.
The plec that had a white patch on his back is healing up superfast and the hole in his dorsal fin is virtually healed. I've noticed that they fight a lot now, probably due to the lack of privacy they get now. Never mind they will be in a 10000+ Ltr Tropical house in 2 months time.
The male and female black mollie have made up and begun 'dancing' again (The same time as the male fully recovered from his pine coning)
On a sad note the male balloon mollie died very unexpectedly, probably due to old age as I understand they don't live too long.
Other than that everything seems to be improving.
Ordered 2 King Stripe L066 plecs from my LFS to replace the Common plecs when they go.

before then though I want to put a small school of Neon Tetras in and get rid of these damn snails once and for all.

Week 8
The plec with the white patch was obviously suffering from war wounds from his 'mate' as they have cleaned up nicely and the hole in his dorsal fin has healed totally.
All fish looking good again.
Snails under control although there are jelly blobs on everything in the tank, and noone seems to want to eat them. I was hoping the ones stuck to the glass might be hoovered up by the plecs.
The filter sucks some in and I remove the rest by hand.

Maybe you should do a little research or go to a local pet store and ask questions....
Glad to here that fish are healing. And the blobs may be eggs of the snails or some type of larva.

They are eggs of snails. I already knew that. was making the point that now the fish are OK the snails are becoming the problem. lol

I should've done more research previous but I have learnt quite a lot already due to the problems I've had. I'm still a beginner though and continue to take all the advice I can.

Thanks for reading though.

The appeared just after the plants went in. I only have 1 tank and therefore have to hope for the best.

I pick quite a few out each water change (under ornaments and wood etc) and there are always a few inside the filter and egg jelly on the outside of the filter and ornaments etc. So I'm keeping them down of sorts but just a few minutes ago I saw another crawling along the bottom.

The great thing was I think my Betta has his ey on it and keeps geting ever closer. No blood worm tonight for him and he might go for it, or one of the plecs suck him up. lol

Eany Pics?
Also, You may want to get some type of invertabrate for the snails, Like fiddler crabs.... They arent aggressive with fish and would proubley eat them....
That or a frog, they eat almost eanything, but Id watch it with the fish...
