Today we remembered our father. If he were still alive, he would have celebrated his 98th birthday today. We lost him in 2003. Times flies... It seems like yesterday...
That's a beautiful age to reach...July 5th a lady in my apartments will be 103...![]()

I can relate to that... So, sorry to hear...I lost my father several years back
It still hurts to this day
We miss him so much
Yeah . . . . I lost my Dad in 2003 . Three days before his 85th birthday . It does hurt and I still miss him going on 22 years now . Every time that life throws me a curve I wonder what the Old Man would have to say and fortunately I have all his wisdom and witticisms stored in my brain for reference . Those guys from that time were way smarter than guys now . They lived through the Great Depression and fought Hitler and General Tojo .I lost my father several years back

My dad had to fight the Japanese. MY grandfather from my mom's side was a prisoner of war during the Japanese occupation. My father died in 1998, 11 March so the anniversary next week. He was 74 and like Back in the Fold's Dad, he too fought Hitler as a navigator in bombers.
Hope you have good relations with your half sister. My father died in 2012 at the age of 92. He was in the Pacific theater for four years during WWII. He left me a Polynesian older half sister on one of islands.
I guess so...@emeraldking - I think you shared a thought a lot of us have as well.
My Dad was in the Panama Canal on Pearl Harbor Day . He’d been in the Navy since 1938 and was due to get out but that didn’t happen . They kept him for the duration . Most of his time was on supply ships going back and forth between Philadelphia and England when you could walk to England on the U-Boats . He told me some stories that were pretty hair raising . He was in his mid twenties and most of the guys under him were eighteen year old kids . They thought he was old . LOL ! He was a Chief Boatswains Mate and was in charge of loading and unloading the ship . That was bad for me because when I was a kid he treated me and my little brother like we were deck swabs . When he told us to do something he’d inspect it and it better be ship shape or we had to do it again .My father died in 1998, 11 March so the anniversary next week. He was 74 and like Back in the Fold's Dad, he too fought Hitler as a navigator in bombers.
