My Cycling Diary

Hello, me again! Tonight I old had time to test for ammonia, which once again is at 4ppm!

OK, glad to hear from you DB.

When you bop in to give us an update, here's a minimal and good format for the info:

Day x ............(because knowing what day you're on since you first put in ammonia is important)
pH .................(because pH has to stay within a certain range for the bacteria to grow)
NH3 ..............(in ppm, your ammonia test result)
NO2 ..............(in ppm, your nitrite test result, not necessarily needed first week or two)
NO3 ..............(in ppm, your nitrate test result, needed only occasionally unless you're curious)
12/24test .......(indication of whether you tested 12 or 24 hours -after- ammonia was added, or more early on)

(ugh, I'm sure this will wrap horribly, lol)

Brilliant, thanks for that WD...i'll adopt the layout! I have done seven days worth of testing, please see the other posts in this thread.

so day 8

PH- 8.5
NH3- 4.0 ppm- i have some concerns about this which ill put below
NO2- 1.5 ppm
NO 3- 50 ppm

this was 24 hours after my last test, but las night I only tested for Ammonia(which was 4ppm last night).

So my concerns about the Ammonia test is: over the last few tests, the Ammonia has been holding steady at 4ppm...When im carrying the test out, I follow the instructions to the letter (making sure to leave it for 10 minutes as per the instructions)...at around the 5 minute mark it tells me I have 2ppm of ammonia...then, almost instantly, it will tell me that its 4ppm...so, even though the instructions say I have to wait 10 minutes, is this infact too long? The test kit I am using is the interpet Liquid master kit (http://www.rockbottomaquatics.co.uk/interpet-liquid-master-test-kit-ammonia-nitrite-nitrat.html)...

What do you think?

Thanks

D
