My Current 65L Tank And 200L Fancy Goldfish Project

A small update.

Tank still empty but got it positioned without any wobble from uneven floor. Black gravel goes in this Saturday along with background.

The aquamanta filter is cycling in the garage. Ammonia is clearing in 24hrs but the Nitrite is yet to show a drop. I think the garage is a little cold at night and it might be slowing bacterial growth. I shall move the filter into the tank on Saturday once we have the gravel installed.

Our house roof was fitted with 2.34KW of solar panels last week so the aquarium running costs are now free during the day (when the sun shines). The panels do generate electric in cloudy conditions but only enough to power a 100 watt bulb.

great updates!

we are all excited to see your setup! you could do some driftwood and make it natural looking for Gold fish right!?

i think i would make it as "normal" looking as a tropical setup, except u just have gold fish.

nothing wrong with that!

Long overdue an update so here is a short one.

The filter started the long fishless cycle on 3rd September.
Ammonia is clearing the 5ppm easy in 12 hours and has done since 10th October
Nitrites is off the chart and I'm so impatiently waiting for this to start dropping
Nitrate is off the chart too and I'm beginning to see brown algae in the water pipes
PH is a steady 7.6

Lets hope it's not much longer. It's my birthday in 3 days and it's a shame that the guests will only see an empty tank. Oh well, you can't rush it.

happy birthday and it looks great have you thought about what plants your going to stick in it yet?

Hi

Nice looking tank...

I would like to put some input as a fellow goldie keeper.

I am sorry to say but your tank is only suitable for 4-5 goldfish. You want to stock for the well being of the fish and not "plan to rehome when they are bigger" - - stock to keep fish for the duration of their life time.

If your wife has her heart set on a panda, stock UP TO 3-4 now, and save space for the inevitable "find and HAVE TO BUY!!!" :good:

Well the fireworks season is over for another year and during the season my tank finally stabilised with a week of 0.0 on Ammonia and Nitrite.

So after a complete water change and one more day to make sure that all was still OK I have finally moved my fish accross. We will stick to the current level of fish and not add any more based on the recommendations of people in this topic.

It looks good with pictures to follow although some of you may feel a clown floating up and down is a bit too much in this quality tank.
