Yea the SSS are amazing, but cost a small fortune, i've seen them going for over £1000 on ebay. I don't know if many people have paid that much for them though.

When they shed their shell the females also release a hormone into the water to tell the males they are ready to breed. The males then spend the next couple of hours going crazy chasing the females round until they mate. If they don't mate before the shell goes hard then its too late. I'm sure they were trying to mate earlier this week but i've not seen any more with eggs since then so i guess she kept her dignity intact .

I think my girl with eggs is due to give birth in the next few days as its been 3 weeks on saturday.

I'm going to try an borrow my dads 5mp camera when i spot some babies. All my other photos have been using the camera on my phone which isn't too bad, but his is much better.

As for selling the babies i want to get my population up first, I've only got my original 9 shrimp at the moment, one died while shedding about a month ago . Hopefully the children of the ones about to be born will be for sale

I was looking at her last night and the eggs are red now so it shouldn't be too long. Hopefully she will have had them when i get home from work.

She has finally given birth... I've spent all day trying to spot shrimplets! I've only managed to find 3 so far, but fingers crossed there are more in the tank.

This is the best photo i've managed to get, not bad for a shrimplet only 2mm long You can see the red and white stripes already.

Nope, I've not added any salt. The only thing i've added to the water in this tank is declorinator.

I want to get my population up before i sell or swap any, but i might be interested one day.
