My Crystal Red Shrimp Tank

poor little guys!! i feel sorry for u. Though i still wish i could get another tank and start up some shrimp. :-(

They were doing so well, sorry to hear that. They are tricky little critters and a lot more difficult than other dwarf shrimp. I haven’t had a wipe out but at times they do great and other times not well at all. Any of the things you mention could be the cause. Another possibility is the rescape, I have noticed that tank maintenance needs to be little and often, even large water changes seem to affect them, if too many plants are removed at once the ammonia uptake may be too slow, another thing is that over cleaning the filter can cause ammonia, a lot of crs breeders in Japan run two canister filters on 20 gal tanks, I have never detected ammonia in my tank but it must have been there in sufficient quantity to kill some of them often berried females. Tanks of under ten gallons do make it harder to maintain very consistent water quality.
Hope the credit crunch doesn’t bite for too long and you can get new stock.

Arghhhh MT's.....i nuked the buggers in my tank....fecking things are like a virus

some money's worth gone there  even if they were only a pound that's still £80 worth, sorry about that, they were doing so well aswell.

I would say go for it still, it was fun while it lasted... Hopefully yours will last longer than mine :good:

Thanks for the nice comments everybody... I'll probably have some new shrimp in there before christmas!

If i had bought them at the price I paid it would have been just over £210 worth of shrimp, although I wish I hadn't worked that out :p

Thanks ally, I've started to build up my shrimp again and have got a load of cherrys today from Piltdownpaul.

Good luck getting some shrimp, they are definitely worth keeping. They have so much personality.
