nice tank people may say your tank is over stocked but not im my eyes well you could do with thinning it out a bit not much 'they have plenty of movement you have a lot of filtration to cope with the bio load i have one concern for you plants that i would use c02 if you plan to kep them healthy with your ph levels

many people may disagree but at the end of the day its your tank

cheers dane

Thanks Dane

I have intentionally (through learning over last 12-18 months) got plants that i know can flourish without co2 as for a tank this size i would need a pressurised system, and i am not ready to commit to that yet.

My pH and water hardness has made it a challenge finding the right plants.

Dane / Others, i have another couple of threads you might be interested in that kinda relate to this thread a bit

LOL, thanks Paul

PS - Paul, are you a robot that sometimes malfunctions?

thanks for feedback though

dane, the only reason I could think why you don't think that tank is overstocked, is that you must be blind. Horribly over-stocked tank. You really should re-home some of the fish man

not blind mate but these days stocking levels and that need seriously re thinking as alot of things have changed including filtration it is a big tank and alot of little fishes i could understand if they were all large fish but they not

cheers dane

Nah. I still think it's a little bit over board, personally...

LOL

cracks me up when peeps come up with these random "over stock" statements, and especially your "re home some fish" ha ha and you're also a bit cocky calling Dane blind, altho i guess its a joke!!!

EDIT: sorry, no offence, you entitled to your opinion. I know where your coming from, high stocking levels can often lead peeps to pressing the "you is overstocked" button!!! and sometimes rightly so, perhaps you even right here, i dont think so, but you never know. I keep an open mind.

i am sure in some peoples minds its over stocked (including experienced fish keepers) and also in some equally experienced fish keepers minds as evidenced from this forum and other forums, the tank is heavily stocked but not "problematic" or "horribley over stocked" in fact i have received some good comments, not just on pics, but on stats and maintenance of tank and also the plant growth factor.

Its partly why i went into some detail about describing the stats and stuff at the beginning, still have your view of it being over stocked, fine, i can live with that, but i am not just starting out in fish keeping, lots to learn still, but at a level where i feel i can manage this set up and provide these fish with a good environment.

I did read your thread on the basics of fish keeping Discus Lover, a good effort, but personally i totally disreagard the 1" per gallon rule, well i dont "totally" i guess, i just dont pay much attention to it, focus more on water readings, fish health and behaviour etc,
