I'm thinking of getting one more rainbow but then i think that'll be enough (expecially when they get larger) for one tank, though they're all supposed to be quite peaceful for cichlids.

edit: yes there are krib Juvies in there but as soon as they get big enough to sex I'll be getting rid of all but a couple pair (for my 20g's) and none of the big guys seem to even notice them (bigger then the juvies I should say they're not that big yet lol )

Thanks for looking, comments always welcome,

Phillip

Nice looking fish. I am about to put cichlids in one of my 55 gallon tanks soon. I go out of twon to buy my fish because I have better luck with them.

Wow, those are lovely cichlids! I second what caspercanuck said - any full tank pics? :D

ok by request here is a full tank shot:

:hyper: What a stunning tank! I love the driftwood.

Just curious though, what's your pH? I see your lovely sev and I really want one for my future 55 g tank, but my LFS says our pH is to high.... it's 7.2. Do you think it's too high? :dunno:

out of the tap my pH is 7.6 or so after a day though it's 6.8 so in my tank it runs about 6.8pH. from what I understand Severums do like softer acidic water to thrive but I don't think a pH of 7.2 would kill him by any means as long as the pH stays constant and isn't jumping all over the place.

great photos of lovely fish MXPX4318. The tank looks excellent!! :D

SPLiSH I used to keep a sev in water with a Ph of 8.7, and he was fine, so I think 7.2 will be just fine for one! Watch them though, everyone says how peaceful they are, but I had to give mine up as he was just too aggressive, he killed one of my Eartheaters, and nearly got my Oscar!!

fantastic tank and your fish are lovely. cute kribs too :)

it's just pool filter sand that you can get at any pool supply store for about 8 bucks for a 50lb bag (all I needed for the 55). I also use it for my 20g planted tank (mixed w/ laterite) and my 10g puffer tank, I love the stuff it's not too fine so it doesn't cloud the tank up, even w/ only rinsing it one time.

ahh really.. its really cool.. i went out an hour ago and bought pea gravel from rona.. its so annoying to clean..

maybe ill try the pool store and see if they have some pool filter sand..

thanks !

ooh another question.. where did you get it? do i have to go to a pool store, or will somewhere like home depot or rona sell it?

i have a feeling it will be expensive at the pool store

like I said at the pool store it was 7-10 bucks (7 where I used to live 10 where I live now) for a 50 lb bag. Home depot didn't have it when I checked there and Lowes only carries some special treated type of filter sand that was 20 bucks for 50lb bag. Try the pool store first it'll be the cheapest place and shouldn't be too expensive.

ps- just noticed you are in canada so FYI all those prices are in US dollars
