trying to sort out my stock. I have a lot of fish some I love other I like. Here are all my Cichlids.

green severum 5"
Red severum 3"
EBJD 4"
Blue acara 4"
True parrot 5"
Blockhead 3"
3 Festivum 2.5"
discus 2.5"
2 Uaru 5.5" (up for sale)
ram 2"

The tanks I have to work with

5ft 100 gal
3ft 36gal
4ft 80gal

What should I do. I want to make room for more discus. Once the Uaru are gone that will free up space. Only problem is my true parrot and Green severum don't get a long. They don't fight but the parrot love to chase the severum around. Poor Nip the severum gets stressed out. But all the others get along. I'm trying it out again. I know the parrot is a really awesome fish but I love this severum to bits. I got him when he was 1". So I might end up letting the parrot go. I'm afraid I will regret letting him go. also the parrot will get larger then all the others.

What fish would you sell? how would you stock these fish in these tanks?

I'm thinking right now
100gal
2 severums
ebjd
blue acara
True parrot ??? IF only he could play nice.

80 gal
5-6 discus
3 festivum Maybe?
1 ram

36gal
Blockhead
angle

I think your stocking plans are very well thought out. It's a real pity that you couldn't separate Nip and your parrot by putting one or other in with the discus, but that would be asking for trouble.
It's sad but it looks like you will need to let one or the other of them go eventually, or the current bullying situation will just continue.

I think festivums should go well with the discus. I have read that they are found together in the wild too !

Looking forward to hearing and seeing what you decide !

have u considered putting the severum in the 80g with the discus/festivums/ram?

Personally, I wouldn't put a severum with discus. Sevs are just too bossy, grumpy and aggressive by nature.

I'd like to know if anyone has done it successfully though !

not my photo. clearly there are uaru (also a ray bottom right and angelfish top right), but is that a severum mid way up and off centre on the left?

hey snowflake,

the festivums might be ok.like i know there found in the wild and everything together. But they might carry a parisite likie angelfish. that why your not supposed to put angelfish and discus together. But id try it for a while .see how things go.

And meguro, nice find on that pic^.^ but looks like some of the bluefaced heckels are sick.

Yes the festivum are with my one discus now and they get along perfecty. I find my uaru are bossy bullies. They bite any fish that gets nears their food. Where ever they go the other fish move out of the way. My uarus would not do well with discus. My severum on the other hand could be fine he is a big wimp so if I were to add him to a discus tank after they had been in it for awhile I could see it working.

Right now after giving my parrot a time out and letting nip get use to the new tank. Things are ok. Everyone is swimming around no fights. No one is hiding. I'm starting to think I will just keep them all and see what happens. If they out grow the tank I will have a talk with my husband. If one becomes too agressive I will rehome. Humm looking at the tank now seeing everyone getting along with a little chace now and then makes my head hurt less.

I did find a home for the uaru. But I'm not sure the guy has 2 6" oscars in a 140gal . I don't know how he is with wc and after all I did to get them lookig good after HITH I would hate for it to happen again.

Oh crap the parrot is at it again made poor nip freak out.

Haveing all these other cihlids in the tank has really helped the uaru feel better about swimming around. They don't hide or act like they hate me any more.

Oh and that photo is clearly in a huge tank looks like maybe 180 or 200 gal.

Maybe rehome the parrot and uaru

And if it was me selling the uaru to that guy ,id go ckeck out his tank , ask him to do a W/C ,and ask him to feed them.Just to see how he handles fish keeping. im pretty sure its a big enough tank for 2 oscars and 2 uaru..

You can put angels and discus together, its not a parasite you worry about bringing into the tank its and increase in Hex. But Hex is naturally occurring in both fish so if you treat initially to keep the amount down your good to go

Up date all seems to be well. Everyone knows their place and seem to be doing great. I think I'm going to be bad and keep them all. Just till they get too big or one turns crazy. Who knows maybe I will get a larger tank in a year or so . ;) I already talked with my husband if we build a house I can get a 180 gal or 200 gal. That could take awhile.

Thanks guys for your help.

I believe you are right sir !

Enormous, enormous tank though ! I suspect waaaay bigger than SF's estimate. Probably in the region of 500-1000 gallons.

Snowflake ... good luck with the socialisation project ! I'm sure you will keep us all informed.
