I just upgraded his tank from a 5 gallon to a 10 gallon about a week ago and I was putting in a new digital thermometer in his tank and he was flaring at the sensor as I was dropping it in the tank! I was thinking about getting a couple cory cats or some khuli loaches for his tank but I dunno. He might be too mean to try and get him some tankmates.

Flaring is pretty much what they do really. You will probably be fine adding some cories i dont think loaches can be in a tank that size?? Im not sure though.

You're lucky! Our Khan wont flare at anything. Not pens or mirrors or even my hands!:(

Bettas love corys. I think its like the geek hangin out with the cool kids. All our bettas seem to want to be corys.

my betta flares at the sides of the tank. I've only seen him flare at my Pleco once and he's never flared (that I've seen) at the tetras.

Puddyduck put another betta near him and you'll see him flare! I dont mean in the same tank together, but just so they can see eachother

My pk boy flares at everything and has a lovely bubble nest. However I put a girl near him when I was cleaning her out she barred and he fled to his cave....next time I looked at him his bubble nest had gone :shout: :shout: :shout:

My yellow, Legolas, flares at everything. If you go near his tank, he flares and if you put food in, he flares at the food!

Mine never flares, I even tried mirrors to get a goodpic of him but nope, I put my hands in and hes not even scared.. any idea how I can get him to flare for a pic?

I don't think Drew has ever flared since he's been here. Apart from when I put too much cold water in when I was changing him and he expressed his extreme displeasure. Mind you, I'm not sure if that was flaring, or a full on spazz-attack.

(He's fine now, but he's still not talking to me.)
