My Bamboo Shrimp Aren`t Feeding,help!

Do you have any gaps in the lid of your tank? Amano's can jump out i've had 2 jump out and found them on the floor in the past. And the gap was only about an inch by 2 inches.

Go to your LFS and get some frozen foods, something really small like Cyclops, Rotifers, Plankton, Invert Food... something like that, they wont open their fans to feed if you arent putting any food in there for them to eat... they need lots of dusty bits of food whizzing round the tank so they can sit and catch it and eat it... its what they use their fans for...

They do not have to be supplemented with additional food unless they are searching on the bottom for it. If their fans are closed it's because they are not hungry or they are sick/stressed/ recently moulted. Otherwise in an established tank, there will be plenty of food naturally present in the water column for them to feed efficiently and should not need to be fed specifically.

It's easy to tell if you are finding dead shrimp or just their skins that they have shed - shed skins will be a ghostly pale white colour - if its a dead shrimp it will be pink like prawns when they have been cooked! :good:
