Finally finished the tank today.... Quite happy with the result!

Very nice, you done decently for a first tank.
 
Fish looks good and plants will grow out a bit in background so tat will look good too.

If I may make one suggestion ? Remove black background and get dark blue.. more ocean like feel.

Afraid he can't really remove that black background, its actually part of the filter system thats fitted inside the tank.
 
However he could put on a background on the black filter divider but not worth the effort really imho. 
 
As I do prefer black backgrounds anyway since they show the colours of the fish and plants off much nicer.
