My 66g Discus Journal

a 55 gallon tank is not 15 inches wide. If it were I wouldn't be buying a 75 gallon tank for my SW excursion. I needed the extra 5 inches.

The 55 is 13 inches wide. 13 1/2" at most.

It depends on the height and width also of course, a 48x18x15 tank is 56 US gallons.

Hey guys! I took a few quick pictures of the tank so far! Enjoy! First picture, is the whole tankSorry for picture quality guys, I had to zoom in pretty close to get these guys without scaring them.Next, is the smaller guy. I guess he wanted to do a little dance for me!

Anyways, I got a new Discus today. It's a Gold Phoenix. I will be getting two nice sized Discus from a private seller, supposedly she has two left and they are forming a pair, so i'll snag those. Pictures to come tomorrow night!

Hey Gerald, thanks for the post!

The Discus I have at the moment are pretty young. The Tangerine Dream is only maybe 3 1/5 inches in length, and same with the Gold Phoenix. The other is maybe a little bit bigger, at about 5 inches. The guys that I am getting are much bigger, but I don't think it should be a problem. I have no pigeon bloods at the moment, but the one i'm getting tonight is.

If I were you I would skip the tankmates, get an RO unit and try and breed them if/when you get a pair.
I love discus and would breed them in a heartbeat if I could afford it.
Gorgeous fish and nice pics :good:
