just realized one of my espei rasbora is missing an eye (one of my brightest best looking ones too) :( dont even know how it happened but its not the first time.
i have him in a tank with 8 others and a laid back betta who minds his own business! my water parameters are fine but now im starting to think theres a nasty disease in the water

List the water parameters please. What are the dimensions of the tank? And décor?

Very likely, it's the Betta.

parameters are
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 10
ph 7.6

the tank is 2ft in length and over a foot in width and height, my decor is just live plants bogwood and rocks!
also i noticed a tapping sound coming from my tank no less than an hour a go, so i take a look and there is the betta darting full pelt at the glass in the corner of the tank, scared me a bit, thought he might damage himself but that may have been a give away sign of a bit of aggression even though he's usually relaxed and seems happy.

Missing eyes are often in the stomachs of other fish. If its a male splendens, then there is no such thing as one that minds its own business in a smaller tank, imo. What other fish are in the tank?

Likely what you observed with your betta was him attacking his own reflection.

yes its a male, hmm well i thought he would have been okay in my tank :( he never seems aggressive to me unless he waits till lights out time and turns into a very violent fish lol but im not sure, and yes i thought that might be what he was doing, feel like my tanks on a downward spiral now :( oh well sure i can sort something out :)
