My 29 Occupants And Tank

personally for me a 30gal is a bit small for angels, when you've seen how they make use of a big 50/60gal tank you'd feel bad putting them in something as small as a 30gal.

your fish so it's your choice, just my opinion.

O ok, well unfortunately I don't have a choice right now. When my grandpa died I got one of his tanks, which is how I started with fish. My parents won't let me get any larger tanks as of now and since I'm with them I have to abide by their rules. I do not have any friends to give them too with a larger tank and none of my lfs's have room for them in display tanks and the one's I would trust giving them too won't take fish even as donations. If I can get my parents to take me too a local fish club by me i can see about finding a home for them there but for now I have no choice but too keep them in this tank. I do agree, they would like a bit more lenght to the tank as they don't move much from where they mate but the male gets spooked easily for no apparent reason and runs into the walls.

from what you describe thats typical symptoms of being in a tank just that little bit too small.

i appreciate it's not always easy and you don't have options, and there's certainaly an argument for you keeping them in a 30gal rather than give them to an lfs where you've no idea who will buy them and they could end up with someone who doesn't care and sticks them in a 10gal. just see what you can do

I shall try, I'll be upgrading lighting shortly to grow taller plants to give them more color. I talked to Tolak about their the males being sudenly startled and he said angels don't tend to like the color black so I made sure there was little to none black in the tank and outside but that didn't help. It's just strange because I'll be laying in bed watching them before I go to sleep and the room is dark and there's no noise and the male will all of a sudden run into the wall and no other fish bothered him. I try to do what is best for my fish, but sometimes I can't all the time because of my parents. i guess it's an improvement from what they were in before, my grandpa had 6 angels in this tank with 3 bronze cories for 9 years.

it's like fish jumping from tanks, if they're cramped or unhappy with water conditoons they can often exhibit behaviour which would seem idiotic to us, but is their way of trying to get out to somewhere more suitable.

now i don't know your parents (obviously) but try this tactic for a bigger tank (if of course you'd like one) ask them to come and watch the angel, make them stay until his does this strange running into the wall thing, i imagine it looks quite bad, explain that this is because the tank is too small, start crying and say you don't want to give them away because they remind you of your grandad but it's not fair to keep them in this tank..... hey presto permission granted for bigger tank.

bit sly i know but it's for the good of the animals!

LOL won't work. He only does it randomly once maybe every other month and they have reasons for me not to get another tank or larger one. I need to save my money for college (I buy my own stuff), What are you going to do with the tanks when you go off to college, it's a waste of money, you'll have to give the fish back, you don't have the time.

lol fair enough

waterworks always worked on my parents for me!!
