Well here's my 20 gallon long tank -- it's kind of a work in progress. The picture hardly does the hunk of driftwood justice though -- its really awesome. I'll try to get some better pics another time. :)

I'm planning some more tall plans for the back right-hand corner (Amazon swords or something) to sort of balance out the height of the driftwood on the left. Right now I just have java moss & java ferns and two llyodiella (b/c its spreading like crazy and taking over my 6 gallon tank  !!)

[Edit:] Oh I forgot, 2 moss balls also -- I just split mine and put 2 in there tonight.

the driftwood is awesome!! Where'd you get it? I see amazing potential in that tank. Get planting and CO2ing!!

yeah that tank can be great!
to me.... looks like it could use some neon tetras ad discus. But whatever you wanna do with it :D
Great tank!

Out of curiosity, why are the ferns planted next to the wood instead of on it?

Are you going to plant the log? Get lots and lots of moss, ferns and and abubias.

The wood will be the focus of this tank no matter what. :D

There are some ferns attached to it -- you can see them growing up over the back side. The ferns in the front are only in there temporarily because they're getting moved to some new betta tanks I'm getting.

I had a really hard time attachign them to the driftwood though because its really big around and I had a hard time finding spots to tie them on -- like there's lots of crevices on the left-side there, but none of them have holes to loop the thread through :(

Most likely because the ferns would look nasty on the log

Hmm? You don't like planted wood?

Wood is so wonderful-- gives structure to the tank and is an ideal planting medium. I love wood. Helps prevent a tank from becoming a single bushy mess anyway. I think logs end up looking like bushy messes themselves mostly from use of moss, not ferns though. I think most people think Java ferns look really great on woodl.

:D You did a great job mandi! It looks beautiful!

I can't wait until my 29 gallon gets a makeover! I'm looking for an interesting peice of wood and lots of plants!
