I agree the additional plants have made quite a difference already - will only get better as they grow.

Have you thought about a background tho' - to hide all the cables etc.

Black would set the fish & plants off nicely

Always felt that natural looking tank is the way to go.For me that is.

Scubadoo i had a normal picture background but it spoiled the look for me i dont know why.

Black background sounds like a great idea but damn where do I get that.Im in South Africa, Can i use normal black bag which i will cut out nicly and stretch out as i tape it neatly at the back?

that would work fine - you could try either stretching it tight to get a plain finish, or even let it crinkle up and see if you like that effect - it could add some 3 dimensional texture to the back of the tank.

I have the juwel structured black background in my tank at the moment - looks great IMO - but since it is fitted inside the tank it needs to be done when the tank is first set up.

Otherwise, some people paint the back of the glass itself - I wouldn't fancy this much cos if you changed your mind it would be a pain to clean off.

Thx Scubadoo will try that tonight, at the moment I feel anything will look better than nothing but if the black looks nice I will keep it.

Any other ideas? Filling the tank with more water?Afraid that Oxygen will not be enouth.

I would def want the water level higher than you have at the mo.

If you get it higher, will the flow from your filter still agitate the surface of the water ?

The name of the game is to increase surface water area to allow for gas (oxygen) transfer. Creating loads of bubbles helps, but bubbles are not the most efficient means of gas transfer.

You couls also add an airstone if you were worried, but the same reasoning applies really.

I'd try it for a while and keep a close eye on the fish - if they're struggling or gasping then drop the level back down.

Well what ive done is lifted the Power filter a little bit higher in order for the water to pickup some speed before it hits the surface.At the moment its running fast and allot of boubles gets int the tank also have on other side power head pointing upworks causing surface movement.Also the one light I installed is limiting me a little but will add more water tonight and see how it goes.The thing is I have allot of fish in there but also as stated have 2 power filters and UGF with powerhead that turns the tank water 14 times a hour.

Why increase the water level? just for the obvios reason of more space for fish?

More space for fish, and looks much better. Just move your filter up a slight bit so that the current is breaking the surface slightly.

for a black backgroun just get a piece of thick cardboard or similar and paint it black, let it dry then tape it discretley to the back of the tank

Hey!

Adding bigger better light tonight.

I have 4 Red Platies, 5 Neon tetras, 2 Swords, 2 Cory's, 1YoYo loach, 3 Black skirt Tetras,3 Zebra Danios, ! ZigZag Eel ( George ) ( Please note , allot of fish for my tank size but filtration very high )

All get along very nicley.
