Hello all,

I discovered last night that my betta has created his 1st bubble nest, he is in a community tank with 2 other females and mainly bottom dwellers.
What should I look out for now? There are a few stray plants floating near the nest, normally I would remove them but I dont want to disturb anything.
I would love for these to spawn although I am doubtful they will so any help and info would be appreciated

you shouldn't really keep males and females together other than spawning, you won't be able to spawn the bettas in a community tank either

they need a minimum of 5 gallon tank, also, have you prepared for after the spawn, growout tanks etc, they need at least a 40gallon

thanks

paul

No i havent got a grow out tank. Like I said it is my 1st nest and I wasnt really expecting them to spawn.
Why arent you supposed to keep the male and females together???

Also... they arent necessarily spawning. Bubble nests and spawning are very different. The latter is required for the former, BUT males will make bubble nests when there isnt a female in a ten mile radius. They just, do it.

And yeah, get himself his own tank and a few more females in there. Its really not a very good idea, and under the stress im surprised he built a bubble nest.

yeah i agree with marlie, the boys just do it

my boys just make em like there is no tomorro, but have never seen another female, im depriving them lolol
