My work relocated me a while ago and I have been trying to figure out how I am going to get my 55 gallon tank out here.

Currently I have
2 discuss
3 rescued bala sharks, who get along great with the discuss wierdly enough
1 large syno eupterus
some cories, that I will try and rehome more than likely
10-15 neons and glowlight tetra's
4-5 oto's
live plants

I have to move tank from california to colorado and I want to make sure they live!

I have thought about finding a cheap 55 gallon tank to place them in when they arrive so something is set up..it is about a 16 hour drive, should I drive it or try and just ship it, either way I am going to have to place them in bags with heat packs correct? any idea what type of heat packs.

Any advice would help,

Cheers

Well, if you don't mind driving that much (or taking turns driving if more are going)... then go for that.
It's a long drive, but at least you would know how the fish are doing & you would handle them w/ care of course. Getting them shipped, I'm sure it's fine most of the time, but you still never know how your packages are being handled.
It's really up to you though and whatever you feel more comfortable doing.

As for heatpacks.. I have no idea.

You should be okay, as long as you fill the bag with the fish with 1/3 water, and 2/3 air. :good:

You can get hand warmers to keep them warm.

NOTE: hand warmers get very hot, so do not place them right next to the fish.
