hi all want to cycle my tank as fast as poss you know how it goes lol :P the fish going in will be split from my other tank so can afford 2 move some of that media over beens the tank will be less stocked.

rite wot i wanna know is how much media do you think would be sufficient to move over percentage wise media consists of sponge, floss, bio balls and ceramic rings

stocking is as follows

15x Sterbai Cory's
8 x Adolfoi Cory's
5 x Melini Cory's
5 x Queen Arabesque Pleco (L260)
6 x Black Bar Endlers

its 125 litres and yes i know over stocked but the tank is very over filtered and tested on a regular basis and stats are always perfect its a very mature tank

fish moving over are 2x L260's and 5 melini corys as u can see will be very lighty stocked... so wot and how much do u guys think could be safley moved over? want prefably tank 2 be instantly cycled but will still be adding the ammonia for a week after just 2 stabalize the bacteria before fish are finally moved over :)

what filtration and lph are you running please (so i can gauge what filter i want sorry)

Hey Jen, usually 1/3 of the media is the way to go, just replace the mature media you are taking out with the same amount of new media.

Should colonise fairly rapidly.

thanx hun was thinking roughly the same so think ill be busy l8r lol :) when adding 1/3 of media wanna still add amonia for a week or so just 2 make sure so how much ammonia do u think i should use ??? wouldnt imagine it would be the full 5ppm was thinking 2-3 ppm wot u think ??

hi m8 on the 125 ltr it has a tetratec ex600 running plus the 600l/h standard juwel internal and then i use a 900l/h powerhead just for flow and all seems good and has been for a while now

on the new cycling tank 120 ltr it has a fluval 204 external plus a modified internal juwel filter which now has a 1600l/h powerhead running it again for flow and 2 keep the water pristine condition for my 260's :)

hope that helped m8 :)

Yeah 3ppm would be fine, no need for the full 5ppm, you should find it drops within a day or two at most.

Unfortunately lost another panda last week, starting swimming all over the place, obviously his swim bladder was shot, no idea why, was fine one minute, gone the next :( so only two left now :( All the others are completely mad though and doing really well.

BTW the plecs are staying with me, just couldnt work out where to put them, but I took a chance and put them in the cichlid tank and they seem to be fine, also freed up the space from the tank they were in - now I just gotta get someone to buy it :)

So far none, they seem completely oblivious to each other, well i think shes been and had a flirt, but hes not having any of it, maybe now they are in a bigger tank, they might give it a go :) Shes still fit to burst though
