Good evening all. The wife and I have just brought our new home and have decided to hire out the stress of moving our 8ft tank to the professionals, so hopefully it's one less thing to worry about. We are in Witham, Essex and was wondering if any of you have used this kind of service before and if so do you have and recommendations.

Neil.

Hiya,
I asked the same exact question when I bought my house a few months ago, and there doesn't seem to be a company that does that. I did have a look around too but I couldn't really find anything in my area (Manc).
Anyway I did find someone on gumtree who was willing to do it for £100 a day :O
But you can ask your LFS to loan you some tubs and look after the fish...

Hi, Same here, I've had a look around and found one place on the net and I remember seeing on Facebook some weeks ago there was a company advertising this service... Might just end up doing it ourselves as we've always done but thought I'd ask..

It is really hard to find this kind of service and if I am honest.... a service like this that is good enough... when we moved house I got the details of someone who wanted to transport it in his pick up that had a 4 foot bed but it was ok the tank can over hang.... no it cant... it really cant...

In the end I bought a second hand 4 foot tank which I set up first with the fish in then moved the 6 foot tank into its final place. I got the removal men to take the 6 foot tank as there was no way we could move it quickly ie in the car where as with a smaller tank you can at least get it in the car and get it into location quicker. Over all it meant that the fish stayed in the 4 foot tank over night with the filters running and then the 6 foot tank got set up in the morning.

I initially hoped to sell the tank for as much as i bought it for, which I do think is possible however I did end up loosing a little on it. But over all it was a much calmer process than if I had not had the spare tank.

Main thing to do when moving house with a tank is to stay calm! I've really paniked when moving fish in the past and made stupid mistakes or rushing stuff and then plumbing my filter in the wrong way round...
