Hi,
I have a 70l Juwel Rekord tank and am thinking of upgrading to a Juwel Rio 125. Its mainly because i want to get some more fish like Odessa barbs and Loaches. I'll not be keeping the 70 litre tank.
Can anyone give me information on how to upgrade. Do I need to recycle agian??? I think the rio 125 still uses the same filter sponges as the Juewl rekord.

Thanks

Assuming you have a regular water change regime: if you can have both tanks set up at the same time, set up the new tank and get it up to temperature, move across all the filter media and then net out the fish into the new tank.

If you are putting the new tank where the old one is then take out the filter media and put them in a bucket with a powerhead or an airstone and put a few fish in there. Remove the other fish to buckets or other suitable storage containers.

Break down the old system, set up the new one and get it heated up. Once the water is the same as the buckets/holding containers put the fish and filter media in the new system and away you go.

Does any one know if Jewel 70 filter sponges are the same size as the Juwel 125??
I am wanting to move the old 70 litre and put the Juwel 125 in the same place and use the same filter media.
Can I do this in a day??

I have no idea if the sponges are the same size but is there a reason you can't use the old filter on the new tank. Or maybe it's one of those in the hood filters which are so limiting. If there is a space in the new filter where the old elements can fit, you can be up and running in shjort order. Then you need to monitor water parameters for a while in case you get a minicycle.
