I posted awhile back that I was going to move both my tank, fish and everything but decided against it...I sold my 55 gallon setup, fish and everything and put everything I wanted to keep (Substrate, and plants) in the QT tank and put extra substrate in a bucket. So this will be easier to move. We are going from California to Ohio, We are also traveling with two dogs, so we plan to only drive for 8 hours a day, which means 5 days and 4 nights on the road.

Any advice on transporting them? This is my idea....

Drain the water from the tank only leaving enough to keep substrate wet, then moistening some paper towels, and draping them over the plants and making sure they stay mosit. In the warm states, I would leave the tank in the car where it didn't get below 50-60 at night, but take it into the hotel with us in the cooler states. Do you think they will make it? Should I try and keep it dark?

Its a good idea, I'd keep it dark and put a lid on the tank made of cling film to keep the humidity up so no evaporation escapes. :)
