So at the county fair there is a fish tank judging competition. I want to enter my ten gal. Is it too stressful to move them and then move them back again and then not eat for a few days because I will not be there? What is the best way to go about this as far as moving it? empty all the water and save half of it? empty all the water and save all of it? yes it is a long way away but i want to be prepared

What kind of fish are we talking about and is the tank planted? How long of a drive is it and will there be plenty of outlets for a heater, light, and filter?

Personally I would never put my fish through the stress of moving them to a different place for no legit reason. I can understand if you were moving houses but to enter a show...I wouldn't do it. I'm already super protective of my tanks and leaving them elsewhere where other people can mess with it, I get a wave of anxiety just thinking about it.

there would be outlets, they are platties, it is a 15 minute drive, realistically i probably won't ever do it but i would just wondering if it it even worth considering or if I did how I would do it

I'd test the water parameters of the place you are going to and compare them to your tap water. If they are the same then you can use the water there to refill the tank. I'd drain it about 3/4 of the way, put the fish in a bucket and keep the media wet. Soon as I got there I'd then refill the tank with the same temp water then get the tank up and running. Add the fish once things are all ready and the temps are the same.

If the water parameters do not match then bring water from home in clean 5gal buckets.
