My husband and I are going to be moving in the next couple of weeks. We have a 40 gallon freshwater tank. There are two angles, 3 corys, 2 bristlenose plecos, 7 shrimp, and about 12 platys. I have never had to move any tanks before so I have no idea what would be the best way to do it. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance!

Bag all the fish (not in the same bag. Group them according to fish species) and put the filter media in a bag of the tank's water (VERY important or you'll tank may cycle again! :(). When I moved my tank, I brought some of the water from the tank with me, but it may be hard with such as big tank as yours. When you get to your new house, immediately fill it back up and make sure the temperature is the same as the old tank was. When you put the fish back in, put the water from their bags in too, including the water from the bag you used for the filter media. The more water you have from the old tank, the better. This should be good enough to prevent fish loss, although there's always a chance a fish or two won't make it. You may lose a platy. :( But as long as you make their move as stressless as possible and be sure the filter media is still in the tank, you should be well off. :)
