should i use a substrate when breeding mouth breedings like electric yellow cichlids?
or will they lay there eggs onto the surrounding big rocks? atm i do not have any substarte in my tanks, eg gravel, sand....whats should i do?

i would use a substrate but it is up to you by the way since you have been posting all these question about africans i was just wondering if you have a tank setup that already has some setup or if you are thinking about could you tell use the details plz

yes i did have tanks setup for africans though now i have taken all my substate out so i have bare bottom tanks with just big rocks in my tanks

i dont think its neccessary. imo i wouldnt put any. its easier to maintain this way.

cichlids dont lay eggs, they are mouth brooders they just spit the babies wen they are ready to go! my yellows have bred numerous times and i have crushed coral as substrate as there in a community african tank, and alot of spaghetti rock for decor.

what i mean is when the eggs are first released to be ferterlized, does it matter if i have a bare bottom tank or not?

No it doesn't matter if you have substrate or not. If you are just strictly keeping them to breed, then the less stuff to clean the better. However, if you are wanting a show tank, I'd go with sand of some sort.
