I found a fair amount of mosquitoe larva in my fountain today. However, they have been living in straight hose water that hasn't been treated for fish. Can I feed them to my platies and guppies?

You had better do it soon. Mosquito don't stay larvae very long. The larvae will last plenty long enough to become fish food, I don't think there is anything fish like better than a nice live mosquito larvae.

On the tiny livebearers I raise, I figure 2 or 3 each daily. When I kept more bettas, I fed each one 3 or 4 daily when I could find them. Basically, a community tank will eat all you can add in a day by using a single sweep of the net. I am talking about dozens of larvae in total.

I tried to feed them a few today, but unfortunately they're really small right now and the fish didn't see thiem! I'll try again soon when they're a little bigger, since right now they can go through the holes in the net. I used a dropper to suck them up and tweezers to pick them back up and put them inside of the tank.

Don't feed your fish too much other food and the larvae will be gone by tomorrow. I feed even microworms to full sized platies and they gobble them up once they notice them. You might be surprised at how small food can be compared to the fish, after all, do you ignore M&Ms just because they are much smaller than you are?
