Didn't check the sites out but realy, besides being considerably hardier and more tolerant of low temps and slightly smaller, they are realy just like guppies.

thanks a lot that's kinda what i figured. Ok then what are the stocking rules for guppies because my mosquito's seem to be scrapping. Males female ratio and minimum in a tank.

The stocking for Guppies is usually 2-3 females per 1 male. Minimum in a tank can be whatever...they aren't really schooling fish.

I'm not totally sure about Mosquito fish, but I don't think that wouldn't really work. The male will bug the female too much trying to breed, and can stress her out. 2 females and 1 male could be okay though. :)

Very similar care to guppies except mosquito fish are out and out carnivores and need meat in their diet. The will also de-scale and de-fin any other fish species in the tank.
Evil little buggers.

SirMinion, are you talking about heterandria formosa? Granted they like their worms but mine were never aggressive or nippy - the gambusia affinis (western mosquito fish) are a different matter. :p

I have some mosquito fish in my tank...the female 2-3 per 1 male rule applies, but my boy (I call him Little Fish) is never agressive and is generally smaller than the male or female fancy guppies I have him with. Course he IS quite the ladies-man! :p Little Fish is a gambusia affinis but I've not had any problems with him.

Yes you're correct, I was referencing gambusia affinis, I didn't know there was another, nicer kind!
